Pailin

Pailin (formerly known as "Phu Son") is located in western Cambodia, near the Thai border, about 600 kilometers from the capital Phnom Penh. It was once renowned for its abundant natural resources, gems, and timber. During the Cambodian Civil War in the 1970s, it was the first city invaded by the Khmer Rouge, experiencing the devastation of war and the bloodshed inflicted by the Khmer Rouge. The 4 to 6 million landmines and unexploded ordnance left behind in the last century have caused indelible and terrible suffering to the Cambodian people, severely hindering economic and social development and the cultivation of life. The United Nations once designated Pailin as one of the world's most heavily mined areas. Although political stability has been restored, Pailin remains one of Cambodia's poorest and most needy provinces.

Education Ministry

From a war-torn land once covered in landmines to a place of learning and hope, God's grace has been at work every step of the way. In 2007, AGS opened the Bahuy AGS Primary School in Pailin Province near the Thai border. The founding of AGS Primary School in 2007 marked the beginning of early childhood education in the region, followed by the opening of Bright Pailin School (BPS) for junior high students in 2022 and the completion of its Phase 2 expansion for senior high school students in September 2025. The photos capture far more than buildings and classrooms — they tell stories of the Gospel proclaimed, lives transformed, and communities blessed. The images bear witness to the love, dedication, and sacrificial service of churches and believers, and above all, to the grace of God who "Makes a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." (Isaiah 43:19)

AGS is currently supporting the educational expenses of nearly 300 students, hoping to carry on the strategy of Education as Mission, to deliver the good news of Jesus Christ's truth, love for life, and eternal hope to the unreached people; to help students and families through education and the establishment of local churches, to promote serving each other and build up the loving communities; to heal broken lives and restore abundant promises by God's will.

AGS hopes to "Take the forgotten Gospel to the forgotten places among the forgotten people." — Dr. A. B. Simpson, founder of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Through our campaign, "Walking with Cambodian Students," we invite you to join hands with us in supporting the education of children and youth — from kindergarten through secondary school — so they may grow academically, socially, and spiritually. Your gift not only covers the actual education fees for local students each year, but also practice walking alongside and growing with the students, as well as spreads the Gospel, and builds hope for Cambodia's future! AGS further hopes that brothers and sisters and churches can participate in Short-Term Ministry, visiting the local area, interacting with the students, and expressing care and concern for their growth.

In addition, we offer English tutoring and computer classes and provide monthly financial assistance for students from kindergarten through university. Moreover, we can truly walk alongside Cambodian students and grow together with them by:

Caring for Life: Sharing the good news of Jesus Christ's love, mercy, and eternal hope with those who have not yet received it; demonstrating and restoring the glory and beauty of God's creation of humanity and families; building up and nurturing lives through education, teaching children the way of life they should walk, so that they will not stray from it even in old age.

Skills Training: Cultivating students' understanding, appreciation, and respect for the value and preciousness of God's creation of life; nurturing individual gifts and skills, enabling them to realize their ideals, helping them escape poverty, becoming pillars of society, and contributing to the community.

Community Service: Building and promoting the development of local churches and communities, connecting students and families so that they may receive care and edification, and encouraging them to serve one another, care for their neighbors, and contribute to the community.

Our Ministries Updates

Bright Pailin School (BPS)

In 2022, we celebrated the opening of the Bright Pailin School's junior high building, and God has blessed us with an overwhelming response — today, more than 150 students are learning and growing in this new space. Looking ahead, we anticipate that by 2026, every classroom will be filled to capacity. With the exciting launch of our high school and life-skills curriculum, the need for additional classrooms and facilities has become even more urgent.

The planned short-term ministry service and cycling fundraising activity for schools in Pailin were suspended due to the 3-year pandemic. However, during the hard time, God's grace never ceased. In January 2023, we organized a joint "Hong Kong & Canada" visiting team to attend the Bright Pailin School (BPS) opening ceremony. Since then, the overseas short-term ministry service teams and the cycling fundraising activity have been re-launched in 2024. At the same time, we are also actively helping the development of various churches throughout the territory.

By God's gracious provision and faithfulness — and through the generous partnership of friends like you — the construction of a new high school building began in 2023. We were thrilled to share that the project is now approaching completion! On November 26, 2025, we dedicated this new building to the LORD, trusting it will serve generations of Junior and Senior High students, equipping them with both knowledge and life skills to impact their communities.

Thanks be to God! By His grace and's guidance, Phase 2 has finally been completed.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers, especially for God's provision in the financial support of our education ministry. Your partnership in prayer and giving enables us to nurture and equip the next generation through Christ-centered education.

Through our programme — "Walking with Cambodian Students" (WCS), we invite you to join hands with us in supporting the education of children and youth — from kindergarten through secondary school — so they may grow academically, socially, and spiritually. Most importantly, through your partnership, we long to continue "Taking the forgotten Gospel to the forgotten places among the forgotten people." — Dr. A. B. Simpson, founder of the Christian and Missionary Alliance.

*In November 2025, Bright Pailin School (BPS) begins offering Grade 10 classes, followed by the gradual addition of Grades 11 and 12 in two years. As the school expands, the education costs continue to rise, requiring stable and ongoing donations to ensure students can advance in their education. AGS earnestly calls on churches and individuals to join hands with us in the "Walking with Cambodian Students"(WCS) programme — bringing education, hope, and the love of Christ to this generation and beyond.

Life Inheritance

Taking advantage of this opportune time for education and evangelism, AGS hopes to invite believers from all regions to participate in the work and development of churches and schools. Beyond imparting knowledge and skills, we aim to care for their physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs, influencing lives through the Word of GOD & life testimonies. Church development requires pastors to participate in shepherding different groups and developing ministries for adults, youth, children, families, caregivers, discipleship, etc. School development needs the primary and secondary school teachers in English, Mandarin, physical education, arts, and crafts, as well as school administrators. We hope you will join us in the work of God's Kingdom, building a Christian community in Cambodia, making disciples of all nations and "Share the Life-transforming Good News of Jesus Christ to All Peoples and Build up Christian Communities in All Nations." May God's will be fulfilled.

Join in the Kingdom Work

AGS warmly welcomes churches, individuals, and mission teams to join short-term or long-term ministries — visiting the schools, communities, engaging with students, and sharing God's love in action. Whether your gifts are in education, healthcare, accounting and finance, creative media, translation, IT, or volunteer work etc, your participation can help fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. Together, let us walk with Cambodian students — bringing education, hope, and the love of Christ to this generation and beyond.
